NBA Rumor - Oct 28 "
The Memphis Grizzlies asked for and received permission to speak to Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, possibly about a position with the team, a Lakers spokesman said Tuesday. Abdul-Jabbar attended opening night festivities at Staples Center, but declined to comment. Abdul-Jabbar, whose role as a special assistant to Lakers coach Phil Jackson has been decreased this season, attended the Grizzlies' practice Monday. He also had dinner with the Grizzlies' big men Sunday, according to a report in a Memphis newspaper."

NBA Rumor - Oct 22 "
The Portland Trail Blazers are close to signing forward LaMarcus Aldridge to a contract extension, a person close to the situation told The Associated Press. The five-year deal is expected to be completed within the next two days, according to the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract wasn't final. The Blazers need to strike a deal with Aldridge to prevent him from becoming a restricted free agent next summer."

NBA Rumor - Oct 13 "Raptors head coach Jay Triano will finally get the chance to use all of his big guns in a pre-season game this week.
Forward Hedo Turkoglu, the club’s big off-season acquisition, practiced all-out with the team yesterday and expects to play his first pre-season game Wednesday night in Hartford against the Boston Celtics. If he’s not ready to play against the Celtics, he’ll likely play on Thursday at the Air Canada Centre against the Houston Rockets."

A league source tells me there’s plenty of talk floating that the Knicks again are pushing hard to deal for Rubio — probably with an assist from agent Dan Fegan — and there’s word of a Rubio for restricted free agent David Lee, Nate Robinson and a No. 1 pick deal.
That’d give the Wolves three power forward types, wouldn’t it? But with David Kahn, anything could be possible.
Of course, the Wolves would have to give back some sizable salaries to make the deal work (with the Knicks signing and then trading Lee), but they do have Brian Cardinal and Mark Blount, to name two contracts that total $14 million plus."

NBA Rumor - Sep 1 "
Already thin at power forward, and possibly even more limited at the position at the start of camp depending on the status of Michael Beasley, the Miami Heat is taking a look at Portland Trail Blazers free agent Shavlik Randolph. Undrafted out of Duke in 2005, Randolph appeared in 10 games for the Trail Blazers last season after spending the previous three seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. He is named for his grandfather, Ronnie Shavlik, an All-American at North Carolina State."

NBA Rumor - Aug 27 "
Iverson, a former Piston, announced Thursday he has received an offer from the Memphis Grizzlies. "Agent informed me that Memphis made us an offer on yesterday. Stay tuned," Iverson said on Twitter. The deal is reportedly $5 million for one year. Iverson had received little interest since becoming a free agent after a forgettable season with the Pistons."

NBA Rumor - Aug 26 "A day after it was confirmed that Michael Beasley had entered a Houston rehab facility, a clearer picture regarding the status of the Miami Heat forward has come into focus.
Sources familiar with the case said Beasley's stay at the facility is primarily related to the NBA's substance-abuse program, with this visit planned in advance. In addition, while concerns have been raised about Beasley's mental well-being in the wake of web postings by the 20-year-old and comments from those close to him, those concerns have been overstated, according to a source familiar with the situation."

NBA Rumor - Aug 25 "
There was some buzz last weekend that free agent Allen Iverson is nearing a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats and former Pistons coach Larry Brown. Dime Magazine's Web site reported Saturday that Iverson, who spent most of last season with the Pistons, had agreed on a contract that would be signed this week. The Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell wrote in response to the report: "I'm told by a great source that's not true. However, that doesn't mean Iverson won't be a Bobcat. It sounds like there's a good chance that will happen."

NBA Rumor - Aug 12 "Ahmad Nivins, the Mavericks' second-round pick (56th overall) in this year's NBA draft, has signed a contract to play in Spain this upcoming season. He will play for Manresa in the ACB League, the same league that produced Ricky Rubio, the fifth overall pick in the draft (taken by Minnesota). The Mavericks retain the rights to Nivins.
"We want him to get some experience and come back ready to roll next year," Mavs owner Mark Cuban said in an e-mail."

NBA Rumor - Aug 12 "When the Jets made their initial contract proposal to RB Leon Washington, believed to be around $2 million per year, he found it so insulting that he skipped some of the offseason workouts. They've increased their offer considerably.
According to sources, the Jets have an offer on the table that averages $4.5 million a year. Washington is believed to be seeking $6 million per year. Thing is, if the Jets go higher than $5million, they'd be paying him more than Thomas Jones, the starting tailback. Washington is due to make $535,000 this season."

NBA Rumor - Aug 12 "The following got passed to me second hand from someone close to the Magic, so take it for what it’s worth:
the Magic’s preferred offer for Watson is apparently a chunk of the Turkoglu trade exception, a second round pick and the rights to Milovan Rakovic (read the Magic summer league bio here — he didn’t play due to the absence of a contract, possibly to keep him available as an easier-to-move trading chip). It sounded earlier this summer as if the Magic and CJ had worked out the numbers on a deal, so the sticking point here is likely the Warriors holding out for a first round pick, cash, or both. "

NBA Rumor - Aug 8 "
A person with knowledge of the deal says Ben Wallace is coming back to the Detroit Pistons. Wallace will receive a $1.3 million, one-year deal, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the contract has not been signed. Wallace is expected to do that early next week. The four-time defensive player of the year helped the Pistons win the 2004 NBA title. He left as a free agent to play for the Chicago Bulls, signing a four-year, $60 million deal."

NBA Rumor - Jul 22 "Count the Nets among the many teams interested in a little Baby talk.
Glen “Big Baby’’ Davis, the Celtics’ restricted free agent forward, is being courted by New Jersey according to a report last night on yahoo.com sports."

NBA Rumor - Jul 17 "
David Lee is willing to take a lower salary during the 2010-11 season to save the Knicks precious salary-cap space to make a run at high-end free agents next summer. But the issue for the Knicks is that based on Lee's overall asking price, even a slight reduction might not make a difference in the critical bottom line. Lee's agent, Mark Bartelstein, declined to comment on specifics about his discussions with Donnie Walsh, but he did acknowledge he has presented concepts that involve a backloaded contract that includes a lower salary in 2010-11."

NBA Rumor - Jul 16 "
Though the Celtics have not made an offer to Glen Davis, the restricted free agent and his team may be drifting closer together thanks to NBA’s strapped economy. Though Davis is still hopeful of landing a mid-level-sized deal - one that starts at $5.8 million - the field is limited. Detroit, a team with clear interest, has $3.2 million to offer, and is reportedly hesitant to send Davis an offer sheet with the knowledge that the Celtics will gladly match that amount. The Pistons, rather than have their cash placed in limbo by the seven-day period the Celtics would have to match the offer, are instead pursuing other options."

NBA Rumor - Jul 15 "
Allen Iverson's agent plans to meet with Los Angeles Clippers officials in Las Vegas to discuss a one-year deal for the mid-level exception of $5.8 million, ESPN.com reported. The agent, Cherry Hill's Leon Rose, was trying to set up a meeting between Iverson and the Clippers, who want to ask the former 76ers all-star how he feels about coming off the bench, the Web site reported. That issue became a sore subject for Iverson when he was with the Detroit Pistons last season."

NBA Rumor - Jul 15 "
Nate Robinson may be getting a big fat Greek payday. Newsday has learned that Olympiakos, the Athens-based team that last summer lured Josh Childress away from the NBA, has offered the Knicks' 5-9 guard a two-year contract. Robinson, 25, a restricted free agent, could earn $10 million in the deal, according to a source. Knicks president Donnie Walsh said Tuesday that he had no information about the offer from Olympiakos other than the initial report by a Greek media outlet Monday night."

NBA Rumor - Jul 15 "
But if the Bulls are interested in dealing for Carlos Boozer, there remains a strong chance they could work out a deal with the Utah Jazz for the power forward. Even though the three-team deal reported last week by ESPN.com is essentially dead, that doesn't necessarily mean Boozer won't end up in Chicago. During an appearance Tuesday on the ''Waddle & Silvy'' show on WMVP-AM (1000), Boozer said that he was told he would be traded and that he would love to end up with the Bulls."

NBA Rumor - Jul 14 "
Talks between the Los Angeles Clippers and free-agent guard Allen Iverson have been characterized as "very serious," according a source close to Iverson who was not authorized to speak publicly about the negotiations. The Clippers have long been intrigued by Iverson, having come close to acquiring him in the past. The team was also waiting to see what would happen with its trade that sent Zach Randolph to the Memphis Grizzlies, but that deal is scheduled to be completed Friday."

NBA Rumor - Jul 12 "The most the Knicks could offer Miller, who made $10 million last season, without a sign-and-trade would be the mid-level exception of $5.85 million.
In a sign-and-trade for Duhon, they could give Miller as much as $7.6 million (125 percent of Duhon's salary, plus $100,000). Miller and agent Andy Miller were asking for three years and $30 million."

NBA Rumor - Jul 11 "As anticipated, Brandon Bass won't be returning to the Mavericks. NBA.com's David Aldridge reports that Bass has a agreed to a four-year, $18 million deal with the Orlando Magic. Bass could step into the starting lineup between Rashard Lewis and Dwight Howard for a team coming off a Finals appearance."

NBA Rumor - Jul 10 "The Heat's interest in Andre Miller in recent years has been undeniable. The problem has been that Miller has remained out of reach as he was shuffled from Denver to Philadelphia.
But now that appears to be changing, with the 76ers making clear that their free-agent negotiations with the veteran point guard are at a stalemate."

NBA Rumor - Jul 10 "According to the report, the Bulls have been involved with the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers in talks about a
three-way deal that would land the Bulls power forward Carlos Boozer and send guard Kirk Hinrich to Portland and forward Tyrus Thomas to Utah."

NBA Rumor - Jul 10 "
According to an ESPN.com report, the Jazz have discussed a three-team deal with Portland and Chicago that would deliver Boozer to the Bulls, Kirk Hinrich to the Trail Blazers and Tyrus Thomas to the Jazz.Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor, who spent Thursday traveling back from the Orlando summer league, declined to comment about the report."

NBA Rumor - Jul 10 "Several people with knowledge of the Bulls' situation downplayed an
ESPN.com report claiming the Bulls had engaged in substantive talks on a three-team deal involving Utah and Portland that would land them All-Star power forward Carlos Boozer. The report had Kirk Hinrich going to Portland and Tyrus Thomas moving to Utah. While Utah is gauging the trade market on Boozer, trading Hinrich from a thin backcourt without getting a guard in return makes little sense."
