Wide receiver Devin Hester limped around the practice field Wednesday at Halas Hall, but he vowed to be on the field Sunday, when the Bears host the Arizona Cardinals. Hester suffered a sprained ankle near the end of the victory over the Cleveland Browns, and he could be back on the field today. ''I'm all right,'' Hester said. ''I'm going to play.''

NFL Rumor - Oct 29 "As commissioner Roger Goodell was defending the NFL's policies on concussions before Congress Wednesday, the Eagles were dealing with a head injury to Brian Westbrook and beginning the process of determining whether the star running back can take the field against the Giants on Sunday.
Since Westbrook has always been the most vital part of the Eagles' offense, it might be tempting to rush him back after his head collided with the knee of Redskins linebacker Rocky McIntosh on Monday night.
On his radio show Tuesday, Andy Reid said he was "counting on" Westbrook playing. Wednesday, however, he told reporters that Westbrook would not play until his series of week-long tests checked out, which Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder later affirmed"

NFL Rumor - Oct 27 "And simply put, the Browns are horrible.
On Monday, coach Eric Mangini was asked if he plans to bench Derek Anderson, the NFL's lowest-rated quarterback, for backup Brady Quinn or anyone else. "No," Mangini offered, shaking his head. So, you're sticking with him? Mangini nodded.
Anderson went 12 of 29 for 99 yards against the Packers, whose veteran cornerbacks shut down Cleveland's wide receivers and forced the Browns QB to throw to his backs and tight ends. Anderson has completed just 23 of 70 passes in the past three games and now has an overall 40.6 rating - nearly seven points behind the league's second-lowest ranked QB, Oakland's JaMarcus Russell."

NFL Rumor - Oct 20 "One year after finishing with an NFL-best 13-3 record, the Titans plummeted to 0-6 with the worst defeat since Adams founded the team in 1960.
Coaching is a big part of the problem, said the 86-year-old Adams, who made no promises about Jeff Fisher's future with the franchise beyond this season. Fisher, now in his 15th season at the helm of the Titans, is under contract through 2011."

NFL Rumor - Oct 20 "Here is an exerpt from La Confora’s blog on NFL.com.
“I’m also told by numerous league sources that the coaching staff in Kansas City isn’t high on NT Glenn Dorsey, a former first-round draft pick. There’s always a demand for nose tackles in this league, and the salary-cap ramifications wouldn’t be a deterrent in dealing for Dorsey.“

NFL Rumor - Oct 20 "
The Packers worked out two veteran running backs today, including former Packers standout Ahman Green, according to an NFL source. Former Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders back Dominic Rhodes was the other. Both players left without contracts. Green, the four-time Pro Bowler with the Packers from 2000-06, was released by the Houston Texans in February after two injury-plagued seasons."

NFL Rumor - Oct 20 "
The Lions are looking for young players or draft picks. "That's what it would have to be," Schwartz said. "It would have to be people that you can go forward with." Can the Lions make a deal? It likely would take a lot for them to give up draft picks they need to build for the future, and they don't have a lot of veterans with trade value.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson did not practice Friday and are listed as questionable with knee injuries for Sunday's game. Asked about Stafford -- who hasn't practiced since Wednesday -- Lions coach Jim Schwartz said: "We'll lean on our injury report and then we'll make a decision Sunday morning of what we're going to do. The ailment first showed up on the injury report Sept. 24, three days after a loss to Indianapolis. McNabb has been out since breaking his rib in the season opener. He missed two games before the Eagles had their bye this past weekend. "He looked good," said backup Kevin Kolb, who replaced McNabb for two starts, with the Eagles going 1-1. "He was throwing the ball well." "

NFL Rumor - Sep 23 "
Concerned they might have to go into the St. Louis game Sunday with just two healthy safeties, the Green Bay Packers worked out three defensive backs Tuesday and appear ready to sign one of them soon.
The top choice appears to be Indianapolis veteran Matt Giordano, a four-year pro who started six of 55 games for the Colts before being released Sept. 6. Giordano, a fourth-round pick in 2005 out of the University of California, was cut when the Colts claimed linebacker Cody Glenn on waivers and needed a roster spot.
Also working out for the Packers Tuesday were cornerback / safety DeAndre Wright, formerly of the New York Giants, and safety Nate Ness, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, according to two NFL sources. Neither of the other two has played in a regular-season game."

NFL Rumor - Sep 18 "
Anthony Gonzalez may be out longer than the Colts first feared and they appear to have a replacement for him, too. Coach Jim Caldwell said the third-year receiver could miss up to two months after spraining ligaments in his right knee during Sunday's 14-12 victory over Jacksonville. Indy has signed former Philadelphia receiver Hank Baskett to take Gonzalez's place, and three-time league MVP Peyton Manning hopes he can find his way around the offense fast."

NFL Rumor - Sep 15 "
New York Giants first-round draft pick Hakeem Nicks and running back Danny Ware are probably going to be sidelined at least two weeks with injuries sustained in the season opener.
Coach Tom Coughlin indicated Monday that the timeframe was a minimum, and that the injuries might sideline the players longer.
Nicks sprained his left foot in the fourth quarter of the Giants' 23-17 win over the Washington Redskins. He spent the final minutes of the game sitting on the sidelines with crutches at his side. The receiver caught two passes for 18 yards."

Quarterback Marc Bulger took snaps under center for the first time in 3˝ weeks. Rookie Jason Smith has been officially named the starting right tackle. So for the first time since the start of training camp, the entire Rams offense — starters and key contributors — was in place and on the field Wednesday. NFL Rumor - Sep 3 "
The Minnesota Vikings have called teams to see what they would be willing to offer in exchange for backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, a league source told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
The Vikings have four quarterbacks on their roster, which must be trimmed to 53 players by Saturday. Coach Brad Childress said the team possibly could keep four quarterbacks, but it seems more likely that it will trade or release one.
Jackson has been the subject of trade rumors since Brett Favre arrived. However, it remains unclear which direction the Vikings will go if they are unable to trade Jackson."

NFL Rumor - Sep 1 "Zach Thomas learned tonight of his retirement when he got a text message from a reporter congratulating him on a great career. The reporter (you might know who he is) had read about it on the internet, with Pro Football Talk linking to a report from one of ESPN's 300 national NFL reporters. It's not true, though.
Five minutes later, Drew Rosenhaus tweeted that "Zach Thomas is not retiring. He is progressing from his injury & he fully expects to have a great season with the Chiefs in 09." In this rare case, I'm going to just take Rosenhaus at his word."

NFL Rumor - Aug 31 "In Saturday night's exhibition loss to Seattle, Cassel grabbed his left leg after being sacked by defensive tackle Brandon Mebane on the game's third play.
Yahoo! Sports, citing a source within the Chiefs organization, reported that Cassel could miss 2-to-4 weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament in his knee. That would include the team's opener at Baltimore on Sept. 13. Flowers returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown before hurting his shoulder early in the first half. Wide receiver Devard Darling also was helped to the sideline in the third quarter with an apparent leg injury."

NFL Rumor - Aug 27 Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin sat out practice with a sore right hamstring Wednesday and probably will miss the Cardinals’ game against Green Bay on Friday night.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt says Boldin felt a problem with the hamstring late in practice on Tuesday but an MRI showed no serious injury.
The Cardinals might also be without wide receiver Steve Breaston, who has been sidelined with a bruised knee. If both miss the game, Jerheme Urban would move up to No. 2 receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald."
