At 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, Jays minor-league left-hander David Purcey makes a big impression simply walking into a room. Ditto, these days for what he's doing on the mound.
On Friday night, Purcey had another solid performance while pitching for Syracuse as he picked up the win in a 4-1 victory over Pawtucket. Purcey gave up the one run on four hits in his six innings, walked one and struck out seven. On the year he is 2-2 with a snappy 1.88 ERA in six starts. In 28 2/3 innings, Purcey has 27 strikeouts but also has issued 18 walks.
