Glaus and Another Look at the Overbay Trade

Glaus wasn't in the lineup last night as Gibbons wouldn't answer his pleas to play, despite his swallen elbow.

With Chacin not being able to pitch in his regular spot on Saturday, the Jays will need to bring someone in. Ty Taubenheim's contract may be purchased. Which brings us to taking a look back the at the Lyle Overbay trade. The last time I looked at how all the players in the deal were playing, the trade definitely looked better for the Brewers.

Overbay has been swinging the bat better since our last look at this trade, and is solid defensively. He made a highlight diving catch last night. Ty may be making a major league start this weekend. Gross has struggled of late, hitting .125 in his last 10 games, only 2 of those 10 were starts though. Bush is 1-2 in four starts during may, with a 4.5 ERA. He has pitched at least 6 innings in all of his starts this month, recording 23 strike outs in 25 innings.

I think this deal is currently looking like better deal for the Jays, than it did a month ago. In 2 years time it may be different, but if you're making a run for the post season now, you have to give up something. Johnson should be a solid major leaguer in a year or two.
