A.J. Burnett's record so far is 2 for 2, 2 starts and 2 trips to the DL. Good ole J.P. tells us that there is nothing to be concerned about. Sorry J.P. but I'm worried. So there is apparently no structural damage in Burnett's right elbow, but there is scare tissue. It was also released today that he has a mild sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament, which the Jays have known about since spring training. To me, that's not great news for their number 2 starter. The Jays have the offense to compete with anyone, but they need solid starting pitching. Ted Lilly as the number 2 starter (hard to say that without laughing a bit) is not going to cut it if they are going to challenge for a playoff spot.
Let's hope that J.P. is right about this, that Burnett will be able to come back in a few weeks and pitch like a $55 million pitcher.
