One reason why I like Blue Jays manager John Gibbons is that he's not afraid to admit when he makes a bad decision.
The 7-6 final might have had some managers breathing a sign of relief but not Gibbons, who was intent on punishing himself.

"I'm kicking myself because I had (closer B.J.) Ryan up and I didn't bring him in and they hit the (game-tying) home run," Gibbons said. From the Toronto Sun


I wasn't sure what he was thinking leaving RHP Spier in the game with left-handed hitting Varitek up and LHP Ryan ready to go, but thankfully it worked out in the end. You can't afford to give up a 6 run lead, especially to the division leaders.
