Here's something that will make Blue Jay fans cringe, and non Blue Jays fans probably laugh. From the Toronto Sun the other day. In 2002, Jose Cruz Jr. was struggling in his free agent year, hitting just over .225 with 13 homers and 45 runs batted in. As the trade deadline approached, the Jays were considering dealing him, but J.P. didn't like the prospects the Mariners and Mets were offering. The Mariner's offered Rafael Soriano but the Jays wanted Clint Nageotte, whoever he was/is, so no deal was made. But here is the more upsetting one, the Mets offered the then 19 year old, now National League all-star, David Wright. Cruz signed with the Giants after the season.
