For the last couple years the Jays, along with the teams fans have been waiting for Alex Rios to break out, to live up to the hype that has surrounded this gifted 5-tooler. This season, he finally arrived.
Heading in to today's games, Rios was leading the majors in batting average (.351), 3rd overall in SLG with .644 (behind Pujols .791 and Thome .674), 8th in OPS (1.1029), tied for 5th in doubles with 17 and tied for 17th in hits with 61. The rankings that were just mentioned, were for the entire MLB, and not just the American League. He has also hit 10 HRs (only had 11 coming in to the season) and 38 RBI's (tied for 20th overall).
We've been hearing about how well he's been playing this year from the Toronto media, but here's an article from the Boston Herald. I've always liked reading articles from different cities about the Jays, just to see their opinions of the team.
