The Blue Jays kick off the second half of the season with a series at home against the Seattle Mariniers. As of this morning, the Jays sit 4.5 games behind the division leading Boston Red Sox. J.P. doesn't think they will be able to catch the wild-card leader (Chicago White Sox at the moment), so catching Boston is probably their only shot at making playoffs.
Shaun Marcum will get his shot at being the teams fifth starter. The fifth spot has been a big problem for the Jays this season, recording only one win combined between Josh Towers and Ty Taubenheim (Taubenheim's one win came in relief).
Russ Adams is hitting 13 for 72 (.181) in his last 23 games, with no home runs and 3 RBI's. He definetly needs to step up his game if he plans on staying in the majors.
It is still not known when Rios will return to the lineup.
Second Half Begins Tonight Friday, July 14, 2006
