Daily Hoops Awards for Dec. 4th

The Elgin Baylor Award
Rajon Rondo --- 16 pts, 13 reb, 17 asst, 6 FTM, 3 stl, 0 blk, 0 3's, and 5-10 FG%...How often do guys, whether big men or guards, combine for 30 rebs & dimes in a game? I'd guess it happens maybe twice a season...Amazingly, the Phoenix Suns drafted Rondo originally, 21st overall in 2006, and then immediately traded him for cash, even though Nash was 32 at that time and they had no solid true PG backup.

The Travis Knight Award
Drew Gooden --- 2 pts, 9 reb, 2 asst, 0 FTM, 0 stl, 0 blk, 0 treys, and 1-11 shooting...Gooden has been the Bulls most consistent big man this season, but when the competition is Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas, and Aaron Gray, that's not saying much. And throughout his career, he's always been erratic enough to throw in a couple stinker games like this every so often.

Daily Hoops Awards for Dec. 3rd

The Elgin Baylor Award
Chris Duhon --- 23 pts, 5 reb, 13 asst, 8 FTM, 1 stl, 0 blk, 1 trey, and 7-14 FG%...Duhon has thrived in Mike D'Antoni's run & gun system in NY, currently expoeriencing career highs in scoring (11.6), assists (8.5), rebounds (3.5), steals (1.1), and even shooting - 42.8% - he's never shot well, and amazingly, his best FG% in his prior 4 years with the Bulls was just 40.8%.

The Travis Knight Award
Anthony Parker --- 4 pts, 3 reb, 1 asst, 0 FTM, 1 stl, 0 blk, 0 treys, and 2-11 shooting...Pretty sad that you need to start him, Goonmaster. Greg Oden was also pretty bad last night, scoring just 2 pts on 1-5 shooting, grabbing 7 boards, and blocking 2 shots...zeros everywhere else.

Daily Hoops Awards for Dec. 2nd

The Elgin Baylor Award
Dwyane Wade --- 37 pts, 5 reb, 13 asst, 12 FTM, 0 stl, 3 blk, 1 trey, and 12-28 FG%...The beat goes on for the fearless Wade, who hurtles his body all over the court to make plays and carry his team to victories.

The Erick Leckner Award
D.J. Augustine --- 9 pts, 1 reb, 4 asst, 1 FTM, 0 stl, 0 blk, 2 treys, and 3-7 shooting...He also fouled out in just 20 minutes. Most of the BC Roti guys were pretty decent in the 3 games last night, but the rookie from Texas was the weakest of the crew. For non BC Roti, take a look at the gross Jason Caollins on the T-Wolves. 13 minutes, 0 pts, 4 fouls. On the season he has made 6 of 25 shots (24%) and is averaging under 2 pts/gm and only 2.3 rebs in almost 15 minutes. How does he still have a job in the league???

Erick Leckner Bio
17th pick of 1988 draft, tall white stiff out of Wyoming.  In his 8 year career, he averaged 5 rebs once and 5 pts twice. He was never a shot blocker.

Daily Hoops Awards for Dec. 1st

The Elgin Baylor Award
Devin Harris --- 47 pts, 7 reb, 8 asst, 17 FTM, 1 stl, 0 blk, 2 3's, and 14-25 FG%...As Frank Sinatra stated a long time ago, 'Regrets, I've had a few...' Dallas traded the rising young Harris for the aging vet Jason Kidd late last year in a desperate attempt to go far in the playoffs, but lost in the first round. Now Harris is one of the top 5 young PG's in the league, averaging 25.3 pts, 6.4 asst, 3.7 reb, and shooting 48.7% through the first month

The Travis Knight Award
Allen Iverson --- 9 pts, 1 reb, 3 asst, 5 FTM, 1 stl, 0 blk, 0 treys, and 2-9 shooting...The formerly ageless Iverson, who averaged over 26 pts, 7 dimes, and almost 2 stls while playing all 82 games last year, his 12th season in the league, is finally slowing down a bit. At age 33, he's averaging only 18 pts, shooting just 41%, and his dimes and stls are also down significantly on the year.

Daily Hoops Awards for Nov. 26th

The Elgin Baylor Award
Andray Blatche --- 25 pts, 12 reb, 5 asst, 2 FTM, 2 stl, 5 blk, 1 trey, and 11-18 FG%...Of course Blatch is not in Pyro's starting lineup, but that was for good reason. Not only was this Blatche's best game of the season, but it was probably the best game of his career. He came into this game with 5 total blocks on the season, then doubled that total Tues night. This is why I was jumping up & down when I drafted him a year ago - he has immense potential, but mentally, has struggled to put it all together. His teammate Caron Butler was also huge, going off for 35, 8 reb, 6 asst, 3 stls, and made 13 of 19 shots.

The Travis Knight Award
Grant Hill --- 4 pts, 1 reb, 0 asst, 0 FTM, 0 stl, 1 blk, 0 treys, and 2-3 shooting in 20 minutes...A potential Hall of Fame career was ruined when Hill experienced foot and other injuries after the 1999-00 season. In the 3 seasons from 1995-96 to 1997-98, Hill missed only 5 total games while averaging an amazing 20.9 pts, 8.8 reb, 7.0 asst, and 1.6 stls.

One last thing...I was watching NBA TV (601 on DirecTV) last night and they were talking about Wade vs. Lebron and Kobe, showing his stats against theirs. Gary Payton noted Wade's higher FG%, saying that it was impressive, considering that when he (Payton) was in Miami, Wade shot "41, 40, 39 percent". I couldn't believe my ears!!! He was so wrong, but neither the host Amad Rashad nor Chris Webber, who was also at the desk, had any clue how totally innaccurate Payton was. Hey Payton - it was YOU who shot a crappy 42% and 39.3% in Miami during the 05-06 and 06-07 seasons, respectively. Wade shot 49.5% and 49.1% those years! Get your facts straight before you spout your loud mouth off next time.

Daily Hoops Awards for Nov. 25th

The Elgin Baylor Award
D.J.Augustin --- 25 pts, 5 reb, 11 asst, 7 FTM, 2 stl, 0 blk, 2 3's, and 8-11 FG%...Wow, did Michael Jordan finally make a decent draft selection? Jordan took DJ in the top 10 of the June '08 draft, and the smurf PG has put up very nice numbers since being inserted into the starting lineup a few games ago.

The Travis Knight Award
Jason Thompson --- 0 pts, 6 reb, 0 asst, 0 FTM, 0 stl, 0 blk, 0 trey, and 0-3 shooting...The rookie out of Rider College (no, not named after fantasy hoops & UNLV 'legend' J.R. 'Isaiah' Rider) has been a pleasant surprise this year, averaging 11.4 pts & 7 rebs while shooting 54%. Of course, rookies tend to stumble at times, and last night was one of those times for Jason.
