Daily Hoops Awards 12-14-2007

The Julius Erving Award
Kobe Bryant --- 30 pts, 7 reb, 3 asst, 9 FTM, 4 stl, 0 blk, 1 trey, and 10-24 FG%....

The Luke Schenscher Award
Dorrell Wright --- 2 pts, 0 reb, 2 asst, 0 FTM, 0 stl, 0 blk, 0 3 pointers, and 1-4 shooting…..Jeeze, he’s such a tease, and now the Heat sign pathetic Cleveland 1st round ’04 bust Luke Jackson to share minutes at the 3…so annoying.

Daily Hoops Awards 12-13-2007

The Julius Erving Award
Samuel Dalembert --- 18 pts, 11 reb, 1 asst, 8 FTM, 0 stl, 9 blk, 0 treys, and 5-8 FG%.....There were lots of very strong performances last night – Nash’s 26 & 11 dimes on 10-12 shooting, Matrix’s 26, 15 reb, & 5 blk, Okafor’s 25, 16 reb, & 3 blk, and Redd’s 27 & 1 dime shy of a triple double – but the 9 blocks rule the day for the Philly center.

The Luke Schenscher Award
Kevin Garnett --- 11 pts, 6 reb, 1 asst, 1 FTM, 2 stl, 0 blk, 0 3 pointers, and 5-10 shooting…..What has happened to KG recently? What kind of lame night was this? In his last 5 games, he’s averaging only 16.2 pts, 7.2 reb, & 2.2 assts…and has failed to reach double digit rebounds in any of them, a feat he usually accomplishes in his sleep. For the season, his points, rebounds, and dimes are all below his career averages….come on KG, fantasy owners are close to revolt.

Daily Hoops Awards 12-12-2007

The Julius Erving Award
Larry Hughes --- 36 pts, 4 reb, 3 asst, 5 FTM, 3 stl, 2 blk, 5 treys, and 13-17 FG%.....Nice to Larry have a strong game like this, I’ve always been a big fan of his, and his play in Cleveland has mostly been disappointing thus far. Hopefully he can return to some semblance of the player he was in the 2004-05 season when he averaged over 21 pts/gm and led the league in steals.

The Luke Schenscher Award
Mehmet Okur --- 9 pts, 5 reb, 0 asst, 2 FTM, 0 stl, 0 blk, 1 3 pointer, and 3-10 shooting…..Have you seen Okur play this year? I watched him in a game last week for a bit, and I find it amazing that he can do anything at all in an NBA game. He lack of athleticism, speed, and quickness is alarming – he moves with all the speed and agility of a Manatee. I know he’s a big guy who shoots, but how can he guard anyone??

Daily Hoops Award 12-11-2007

The Julius Erving Award
Josh Smith --- 25 pts, 16 reb, 5 asst, 9 FTM, 4 stl, 4 blk, 2 treys, and 7-20 FG%.....Normally I don’t give the Dr. J to a 35% shooting night, but Josh is anything but normal these last few games. 4 stls & blks almost stands alone as a nice, freaky night…but then you throw in the KG-like 25, 16, & 5 dimes (KG of the T-Wolves, not Celts), and now you’re talking fantasy Platinum!

The Luke Schenscher Award
Jameer Nelson --- 6 pts, 1 reb, 4 asst, 2 FTM, 0 stl, 0 blk, 0 3 pointers, and 2-8 shooting…..What makes this poor performance even worse is that it came against the frighteningly mediocre PG combination of 33 yr old journeyman Anthony Johnson and struggling rookie Acie Law. Jameer, you’re in your 4th season now, you gotta target matchups like this as games to go off in, not melt down in.

The Julius Erving Award
Maurice Williams --- 33 pts, 4 reb, 6 asst, 5 FTM, 4 stl, 0 blk, 4 treys, and 12-23 FG%.....Mo’s best game of the season barely edged out some very nice nights from Wade (35 & 10 dimes), Roy (26, 8 reb, 9 dimes), and Maggette (24, 12 reb, 6 dimes).

The Luke Schenscher Award
Gerald Wallace --- 3 pts, 1 reb, 1 asst, 1 FTM, 0 stl, 1 blk, 0 3 pointers, and 1-3 shooting…..A puzzling 23 minutes from the man known as ‘Crash’ for his reckless style on the court.

Daily Hoops Award 12-7-2007

The Julius Erving Award
Allen Iverson --- 35 pts, 1 reb, 12 asst, 11 FTM, 6 stl, 0 blk, 0 treys, and 12-19 FG%....and….Josh Smith --- 28 pts, 7 reb, 2 asst, 6 FTM, 2 stl, 7 blk, 0 treys, and 11-19 FG%....Iverson continues his tear, and Josh turns in a typical Josh performance, heavy on the fly swatting. Since going 6-28 over a two game stretch last week, Smith has shot 55.4% in the subsequent 4 games. On the season, Smith is leading the league in blocked shots (3.7/gm), having blocked at least 2 in every game except one. Also, he now has at least 1 block in his last 68 games.

The Luke Schenscher Award
Martell Webster --- 4 pts, 0 reb, 0 asst, 0 FTM, 0 stl, 0 blk, 0 3 pointers, and 2-6 shooting…. Webster’s had a nice season to date, but this is certainly a stinker of a performance in 20 minutes last night.
