Lineup Notes for Thursday

J.S. Aubin will make his first start of the season on Thursday against the New Jersey Devils.

Alexsander Suglobov is expected to take Wade Belak's spot on the fourth line, with John Pohl and Bates Battaglia.

Darcy Tucker will remain on the first line (he finished Monday's game) with Mats Sundin and Kyle Wellwood.

Alex Ponikarovsky will be paired with Matt Stajan and Jeff O'Neill.

The line of Mike Peca, Alex Steen and Chad Kilger will remain together.

At least 4 Weeks for Kubina

Pavel Kubina will be lost for at least 4 weeks with a strained MCL in his left knee. Although it's never good to lose your number three defenseman and top off-season free agent acquisition, but the damage could have been a lot worse. If the ligament was torn, which was my initial thought, it would require surgery and months of rehab. Instead, no surgery is currently required, only rest and rehab.

It looks like in the short term, Wade Belak will move back to the point. Brendan Bell may not be ready for Thursday. If they were to call someone up from the minors, it would probably be either Brad Brown or Mark Moro.
