Toronto Marlie Top Performers
Erik Westrum is leading the 1-2-1 Toronto Marlies in scoring with 6 points. He has 2 goals and 4 assists in 4 games played. AHL rookies Chris Harrington (2 games) and Robbie Earl (3 games), along with Jeremy Williams, are tied for second in team scoring with 3 points. 2006 first round draft pick Jiri Tlusty is tied for the team lead with 2 goals.
Kris Newbury is leading the team with 21 penalty minutes, followed by Brett Engelhardt with 15 PIM.
Top Prospect, Justin Pogge has only started one game which he allowed 5 goals and took the loss. J.F. Racine has a 1-1 record with a 2.02 GAA. Mikael Tellqvist allowed 5 goals in an overtime loss over the weekend.

Peca Optimistic, Maurice Cautious
Mike Peca missed practice again yesterday and it appears unlikely that he will suit up for tomorrow nights game against the Colorado Avalanche. He is hoping that he'll be able to go, but they don't want to rush him back, as he hasn't skated since Thursday. Peca missed a portion of last season, as he tried to play through a similar injury. As the Leafs top defensive specialist, it's imperative that he is healthy throughout the year if the they want to challenge for a playoff spot. This Leafs lineup, and organization, doesn't have the depth to miss key players for an extended period of time. Ben Ondrus returned to practice after suffering bruised ribs, and skated with Bates Battaglia and Alexander Suglobov. John Pohl skated in Peca's place with Chad Kilger and Alex Steen.
Nik Antropov is skating but not taking part in full practices. Antropov has been out, what seems like for months, with a sprained ankle. It's been well documented that he's injury prone and a slow healer.
I heard the rumor again today from one of Toronto's sports networks, that the Maple Leafs could be interested in signing defenseman Brian Leetch. The Leafs are about $600,000 under the salary cap, and it's reported that Leetch is looking for $1 million.
