Raycroft Still Out

Andrew Raycroft will not be between the pipes for the Maple Leafs game on Saturday against the New Jersey Devils. It will be the third consectutive game he's missed. According to Raycroft his groin is progressing, "but I think I need another practice before I'll be ready." I think Aubin deserves to get the start on Saturday after last night's game, even if Raycroft was able to go.

Elbow Injury for Tucker?

Darcy Tucker was seen leaving the rink last night with his elbow bandaged up. It is not known how serious the injury is. Hopefully it is not bad, as this team cannot afford to lose their second best offensive forward while Sundin is out. If it is not that serious, I'm confident that Tucker would play through it, as he does with so many of his injuries. This guy takes a beating every night. If he's not getting slammed into the boards, he's getting hit with an open ice check, delivering a hit, or crashing into the boards when he's missed someone with a hit. I'm starting to wonder if Tucker doesn't feel satisfied with his game unless he's bled or injured in some way.

Winning Streak Over

J.S. Aubin did everything in his power to extend the Leafs winning streak to 5 games, but unfortunately he can't skate past center ice to help his teammates put the puck in the net. Aubin stopped 34 of 36 shots, and is the only reason the Leafs collected a point in the 2-1 lose. The offense just couldn't get it going. They seemed to be affected by having 4 days off, playing 'flat' for the majority of the game.

It seems that each time I rip a Leafs player for his play or comment on how they're average at best (like I said yesterday for Aubin), they go out and prove me wrong. McCabe has turned his offensive game around scoring his 5th goal of the season, Gill is playing better of late, and Aubin was excellent last night. If Belak starts proving me wrong, I might have to retire from writing, but I'm sure that it won't happen.
