Leaf Notes

Bryan McCabe appears to be over his sprained ankle and will play in tonight's game against the Thrashers. The Leafs got lucky on this injury, as it could have turned out a lot worse.

The Leafs have lost 5 of the last 7 games. Scoring goals is one of the main reasons, they've only scored 1 goal in 4 of the losses. The Leafs power play has dropped to 7th in the league at 19.6%, they were 1-11 in the last 2 games against Boston. Last year they finished the season second at 21.4%.

Last year the Leafs ranked 24th in penalty killing, at 80.0%. This year they are ranked 9th at 85.4%. Better goaltending always helps a teams penalty killing, but the addition of Michael Peca is a big factor.

Alex Steen has recorded only 1 goal on 55 shots, 1.8%. Last year Steen scored 18 goals on 176 shots, 10.2%.

Carlo Colaiacovo returned to the Toronto Marlies lineup last night. He recorded an assist and was a +2, in a 4-2 Marlie victory. Boyd Devereaux recorded a hat trick, his only 3 goals in 18 games.
