What are the Leafs chances of making the playoffs after the trade deadline?

Defense Could be Getting Crowded Soon

Including tonight's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Maple Leaf defenseman Pavel Kubina will have missed the past 14 games. He took part in an opitional skate yesterday and is hoping to return to the lineup for Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins. After watching Wade Belak try to play defense, the Leafs (and fans) are licking their lips over Kubina's return.

Staffan Kronwall also took part in yesterday's practice. He's still at least a week away with a sprained ankle. My guess is that he'll be sent to the Marlies on a conditioning stint, as management decides who will remain with the team. Ian White and Brendan Bell are the 2 most likely candidates to be displaced if Kronwall stays with the big club, but both have been playing well as of late so it may be hard for Kronwall to crack the lineup.
