Tuesday's loss to the Florida Panthers was pretty painful, but not as bad as Maple Leaf practices have become. On Wednesday, Kyle Wellwood strained his groin muscle and is questionable for tonight's game. Yesterday it was Alexei Ponikarovsky's turn to injure himself. The big 225 pounder caught a rut in the ice and crashed heavily into the boards, injuring his left shoulder/upper arm. He immediately went to get x-rays, no word yet on the extent of the injury.
So, Leaf practices have knocked 3 players out in the last couple of weeks. Nik Antropov has been out with an ankle injury after catching a rut in the ice. Maybe this is a sign to do something about the ice at their practice facility.
No Holiday Cheer at Leaf Practices
