Roberts Willing to Return

Gary Roberts would be willing to waive his no-trade clause to return to the Leafs. Would the Leafs be interested in reacquiring him? Most likely, but only if the price is right. Roberts also said we would waive his claus to play for the enemy, the Ottawa Sentors. He also said that he'd sign a one year contract extension with the Panthers.

Nedved Speculation Passes

There were some rumours floating around yesterday that the Maple Leafs may put a waiver claim on Petr Nedved of the Philadelphia Flyers to fill the whole at center caused the Mats Sundin injury. Thankfully they didn't, as he cleared waivers without anyone selecting him. Nedved is more of a name now, and not close to the player he was years ago. He has played a more defensive role with the Flyers, as his offensive skills have diminished.

With the struggles the Flyers have been having this season, he was sent to the AHL a couple of weeks ago, but recalled to fill in for the injured Jeff Carter. It was the second time he's gone through waivers this season, therefore if any team that picked him up, they would only be responsible for 1/2 of his salary, roughly $750,000. The Flyers were hoping someone would take him off of their hands.

Tucker and Leafs Talking Deal

According to the Toronto Star, the Leafs and Tucker are working on a long term contract. It is believed that the Leafs initial offer was for $2.5 million per season, but would be willing to move up to $3 million per on a 5-year, $15 million contract. Tucker and his agent Carlos Sosa may be looking in the $3.5 - $4.5 million range.
