The Maple Leafs pulled out a 4-2 victory last night over the Tampa Bay Lightning in a non-eventful game. The Leafs trailed 2-1 entering the third, but answered with 3 goals, including Alexei Ponikarovsky scoring an empty netter with a 1:20 left. Ian White and Hal Gill recorded their first goals of the year, and Tomas Kaberle netted his 5th of the season, all which have come in the last 3 games.

Jeff O'Neil had a decent game, recording 2 assists and 6 shots on net in over 15 minutes of play. He took a lot of heat before the regular season began, that he may not even make the team, but so far he has silenced his critics. O'Neil has scored 4 goals and added 6 assists in 14 games this year. Heading into tonight's game against Florida, he's tied for 4th in scoring on the team, and has recorded at least 1 point in 8 games. He's 6th on the team in shots with 34, while only playing an average of just over 13 minutes a game. Another positive stat for O'Neill is that he is a plus 2 so for, compared to minus 19 last year. Although he hasn't returned to the form he showed everyone a few years ago when he has establishing himself as a solid power forward, but he's definitely playing better than last season. Shoulder injuries over the years have taken away his physical aspect, but he can still put the puck in the net and be a solid contributor to a team that needs his scoring.
