Mats Sundin wants to finish his career in the Blue and White. If the Leafs have fallen out of the playoff race by the trade deadline, trading Sundin to a contender might have been an option. But Sundin has a no-trade clause and it doesn't appear that he would waive it. The Leafs hold a team option for Sundin next year, but it would be a $6.33 million cap hit. Ideally the Leafs would sign him to a two year contract at around $5 million per season. Sundin turns 36 today.
There is still no time table on when Darcy Tucker will return to the lineup. He's still wearing a walking cast, so it appears that he's at least 2 weeks away. Tucker will be meeting with doctors next week.
John Pohl, who has been out the last 2 games with back spasms, hopes to back in the lineup tonight, despite only lasting 3 minutes at yesterdays practice.
Kyle Wellwood and Michael Peca are still out indefinitely.
