Pedro Martinez recorded his 3000th strikeout late last season (2007), and it appears their will only be 1 new entry to the 3000th strikeout club during the 2008 MLB season. John Smoltz of the Atlanta Braves recorded 3000 stike out on Tuesday April 23rd. Smoltz struck Felipe Lopez of the Washington Nationals in the 3rd inning.

Mike Mussina of the New York Yankees is next on this to reach 3000, but he won't get there this season as he's sitting at 2,692 career K's (as of May 26th, 2008).
