Our Dunk of the Week pick goes to Jeff Green of the Boston Celtics, which was Monday’s Play of the Day.
It happened in the fourth quarter of the Sunday’s matinee between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics. It was quite a hotly contested battle.
Leandro Barbosa stopped at the wing before he passed it to Jeff Green on top. LeBron James was caught out of position and Green was able to blow by him pretty quickly. Kevin Garnett and Chris Bosh were fighting for position. Once Green got inside, Garnett moved out of the way. There wasn’t much Bosh can do as he watched Green fly over him.
The Celtics would go on to upset the Heat in a double-overtime instant classic, 100-98. But it was very bittersweet for the Celtics as they learned that same day that Rajon Rondo would be out for the remainder of the season.
Still, Jeff Green being able to play, let alone do a nasty jam like that, a year after heart surgery is incredible. Very inspirational play by Green and it gives hope to everybody who is in a predicament.
