Our SportsCity Dunk Of The Week belongs to the legendary Kobe Bryant, who was our Play Of The Day on Wednesday.
Kobe turns back the clock on this fantastic slam. The Nets and the Lakers were locked at 80 points in the fourth quarter in their Tuesday night game. L.A. was stuck in the halfcourt with not many options going on. Earl Clark passed the ball to Kobe at the top. Bryant was being guarded heavily by Gerald Wallace. But Wallace has had trouble with Kobe the entire game and he was going to get into more trouble with this. Kobe blew by Wallace and then dunked it with force over Wallace and Kris Humphries. That slam would give the Lakers an 82-80 lead. That dunk gave the momentum to Los Angeles and that would carry the Lakers to victory over Brooklyn, 93-84.
The more you watch it, the more you appreciate how fantastic of a player and athlete Kobe is. At 34 years old, he’s still dunking on two players (and I suppose reality show stars, too). We always say Kobe is going to slow down soon but that dunk certainly proved all of us wrong once again. Kobe gets our Dunk of the Week for SportsCity.
