The 18th pick of this year’s NBA Draft, Shane Larkin, was hoping to start a new chapter in his basketball career when he was selected by the Dallas Mavericks. Although Larkin will eventually suit up for his new team, the point guard will have to wait some time after suffering a broken ankle.
Larkin broke the ankle during practice and NBA.com writes that he has undergone surgery to repair it. According to the doctors, the rehab process following the procedure will take about three months.
Mavericks rookie guard Shane Larkin has undergone surgery to repair his broken right ankle.
The team says Drs. T.O. Souryal and Richard Levy performed the surgery at Texas Sports Medicine in Dallas on Tuesday. Recovery time is expected to be about three months.
The Mavericks will have a loaded back court next season with Jose Calderon and Monta Ellis, meaning the rookie guard will have some competition once he returns.
