But there has been some optimism. John Wall recently made his return to the Wizards. That helped spur a 4-2 stretch in the six games before going into their game against Portland.
It did look like they were heading toward heartbreak in that Portland game, though. The Wizards were clinging on to a 95-90 lead with a minute left. Then Damian Lillard exploded to the cup with a dunk. And then Wesley Matthews hit a three-pointer with seven seconds left to tie the game. It seemed like the game was ready to go to overtime.
But this time, the good vibes were pointing towards the Wizards. The ball was inbounded to Jordan Crawford. He went to the left wing and basically put up a deep three. The ball went in and the Wizards won by that buzzer-beater by Crawford, 98-95.
Again, the Wizards haven’t had much to cheer about. But lately, it seems like the Wizards are getting some good play and some good wins. That Crawford three gave Washington a 5-2 stretch in their last seven games. While Portland Trail Blazers have lost six games in a row.
