Heading into the 2008-09 NBA season, 32 players in the history of the NBA have recorded more than 10,000 rebounds in their career. It's safe to say that his NBA record, the most NBA career rebounds, is safe. Wilt Chamberlain accumulated almost 24,000 rebounds in his 14 year career. It's also not much of a surprise that Bill Russell ranks 2nd with over 21,500 rebounds.

Shaquille O'Neal is the highest active player on the list, sitting at #20. Shaq would have to play another 16 years recording the same amount of rebounds he has in his first 16 years, to catch Chamberlain. Kevin Garnett is the only other active player to record over 10,000 career rebounds, and would need 14 to 15 more years (at same pace) to reach Chamberlain.
