The Senators have five players on the IR, and would consider trading a lower draft pick for a player. Something similar to the Keaton Ellerby, Eric Tangradi and Alexei Ponikarovsky deals. P.J. Stock thinks the Senators have to move Daniel Alfredsson as he has the most value.
Elliotte Friedman notes that the Colorado Avalanche may be targeting teams for a Ryan O’Reilly trade. There may have been talks with the Rangers regarding O’Reilly and a defenseman in a package for Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto. The Avs may have started asking for more and more, and the Rangers have backed off. Glen Healy said that the Avalanche are looking for two players, a prospect and a draft pick. Teams could look at an offer sheet and give up a first, second and third round pick. The Avs could match it, but if the team structures it were his second year salary is $8 million, they may not. P.J. Stock doesn’t understand why there is so much hype on O’Reilly. Healy and Kevin Weekes think that O’Reilly would have been the second overall pick behind John Tavares if there was a 2009 re-draft.
