Wayne Gretzky's NHL career mark of 1963 all time assists will be safe for a long time, and it may never be broken. His career assist total of 1963 is more than the 2nd all time leading scorer (Mark Messier, 1887 career points). One all the all time underrated players, Ron Francis, currently sits 2nd overall, over 700 assists behind Gretzky. Raymond Bourque has the most career assists among defenseman, just ahead of Paul Coffey.
