Wayne Gretzky's NHL record for goals in a single season is pretty much untouchable in the current NHL. Alexander Ovechkin's 65 goals in 2007-08 was the first a player had scored over 60 goals since the 1995-96 season when Mario Lemieux potted 69 and Jaromir Jagr 62.

8 players have scored over 60 goals in a season, with Gretzky and Mike Bossy doing it 5 times. Bossy was a gifted scored who would have probably been on this list more ofter if it weren't for injuries, the same can be said for Mario.
