With four losses in the last five games of the regular season, the Baltimore Ravens appeared to be a team that was falling apart and failing to live up to expectations once again heading into the NFL playoffs.
Despite the poor finish to the regular season and all the questions surrounding this team as a result, the Ravens were able to endure and step it up to another level in the postseason.
The win over the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High was impressive to say the least and changed a lot of people’s opinion about this motivated Ravens squad led by a superstar linebacker headed towards retirement, but taking down the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Sunday proved that the win over the Broncos was no fluke and this team was ready to take the next step.
Now that the Ravens have advanced to the Super Bowl, the bandwagon fans have followed, but the team is thriving in the underdog role and Terrell Suggs wants the doubters to bet against this team via Clifton Brown of Sporting News:
“We know you all had them (the Patriots) picked to win,” Suggs said. “Unfortunately, the bandwagon is full, and we want you all to come in two weeks and bet against us again.”
With two playoff wins in the books and the team highly motivated moving forward, Baltimore may very well be able to upset the favored San Francisco 49ers in New Orleans in two weeks time. Suggs was very vocal following the win over New England calling the Patriots arrogant to have fun at the Pro Bowl while heading into the Ravens’ locker room.
The Ravens are running on pure emotion heading into the Super Bowl and may be able to ride that emotion in order to win another title for Ray Lewis before he ultimately calls it a career.
