When MLB free agency began the morning after the World Series concluded, the Los Angeles Dodgers officially no longer had David Freese, Rich Hill, Russell Martin and Hyun-Jin Ryu under contract.
Though in Freese’s case, he’d previously announced his retirement. What may unfold with Hill and Martin is unclear, but both veterans intend to continue playing in 2020. As for Ryu, there’s believed to be mutual interest between himself and the Dodgers on coming to terms on a new contract.
Meanwhile, free agency is also underway for 510 Minor League players. Of the contingent, 25 spent the past season in the Dodgers organization.

Of the Dodgers’ 25 free agents, Daniel Corcino, Justin De Fratus, José Lobáton, J.D. Martin, Edward Paredes Chris Parmelee, Cameron Perkins, Kevin Quackenbush, Jaime Schultz, Layne Somsen, Jesen Therrien, Tyler Thornburg and Rob Zastryzny have some level of Major League experience.
Within that, Paredes made his MLB debut in 2017 and joined the Dodgers last season, Corcino also pitched for the team last season, and Schultz spent time up with the club in 2019. Corcino only appeared in two games, and Schultz made four relief appearances.
Thornburg is an intriguing name as he joined the Dodgers on a Minor League contract after being released by the Boston Red Sox. There was some belief the right-hander would possibly be part of the equation to stabilize the bullpen but he remained with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Thornburg struggled in 12 games with the affiliate, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits over 12 innings pitched.
