Raiders Rumors: Antonio Brown To Be Suspended After Argument With General Manager Mike Mayock

Ever since the Oakland Raiders acquired star wide receiver Antonio Brown from the Pittsburgh Steelers, he has not made things easy on his new organization.

Brown missed a large portion of training camp and the preseason due to an injury in his feet and a helmet issue with the league.

The All-Pro receiver suffered frostbite in both feet after an accident in a cryotherapy chamber. Additionally, the helmet he has used for his entire career was no longer certified, so he filed two separate grievances against the league, both of which were denied, forcing him to find a new helmet.

While both issues caused him to miss a couple weeks of practice, they have since been taken care of and it appeared that the issues were behind him and the team with the focus shifting to the Raiders’ Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

That is not the case though as Brown took to social media and Wednesday to express his displeasure with the fines issued to him by Raiders general manager Mike Mayock for missing practice.

It appears he continued to express his displeasure to Mayock in person as Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Brown and Mayock got into an argument and he is expected to be suspended for it:

The Next Chapter: Antonio Brown and GM Mike Mayock got into it Wednesday, and the team is now planning to suspend its star wide receiver, league sources tell ESPN.

Antonio Brown posted the fine letter on social media that Raiders’ GM Mike Mayock sent him. It led to an exchange, which is now leading to further discipline. This is not going away anytime soon.

Being without their biggest star is obviously not ideal for a Raiders team coming off a 4-12 season. It is also not ideal for Brown personally as well as a suspension could potentially cost him guarantees in the new contract he signed with the Raiders over the offseason.

It will be interesting to see where things go from here as this trade could end up being a complete disaster for the Raiders, or Brown could turn things around and help lead the organization back to greatness. Only time will tell how this saga ends.
