Raiders Rumors: Arden Key Suffered Broken Foot In Win Over Lions; Daryl Worley & Trent Brown Injuries Considered Less Serious

Seemingly every week this season the Oakland Raiders have come away from their games with multiple injuries, so it comes as no surprise that was the case again in their Week 9 victory over the Detroit Lions.

The most notable injury was to star right tackle Trent Brown, who left the game early with a knee injury. He tried to return, but only played a few plays before exiting again for good. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden did not have an update on Brown’s status on Monday as he still was waiting on the MRI results.

Defensive end Arden Key was also injured in the game, but Gruden seemed more concern about his as he said that it was possible that he broke his foot.

The final injury was to cornerback Daryl Worley, but as was the case with Brown, Gruden was waiting on MRI results before updating the status of his Achilles issue.

While the team has not put out updates on their status, Jerry McDonald of The Bay Area News Group is reporting that Key did suffer a fracture in his foot, while the injuries to Brown and Worley are believed to be less serious and Brown may even be able to play this Thursday night against the Los Angeles Chargers:

Gruden has since found out his worst fears regarding Key, who was getting checked for a broken foot, were confirmed, the Bay Area News Group learned. The news regarding Worley and Brown was more palatable. Worley sustained no significant damage to his Achilles’, and Brown’s report was good enough that he’ll be listed as questionable to face the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday night at the Coliseum.

It is unclear if the injury will be season-ending for Key, who is a former third-round pick of the Raiders. He has appeared in seven games this season, earning two sacks.

If Brown is able to play on Thursday night, that would be great news for the Raiders as the Chargers boast a formidable pass-rushing duo in Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. Gruden was impressed with the play of David Sharpe against the Lions though, so he would get the start in Brown is unable to go on the short week.

The Raiders activated rookie cornerback Isaiah Johnson off injured reserve on Monday, and he could be in for some playing time right away if Worley is forced to miss time.
