Rams Injury News: Austin Blythe (Ankle) And Tyler Higbee (Lung Contusion) Considered Day-To-Day

The Los Angeles Rams came away with a big win in their NFC Championship Game rematch against the New Orleans Saints this past Sunday, but it came at a bit of a cost.

Two of the Rams’ offensive starters, right guard Austin Blythe and tight end Tyler Higbee, left the game with injuries and did not return. Additionally, star defensive tackle Aaron Donald also missed some time with a back issue but was ultimately able to return.

Blythe was carted off with what looked to be a serious ankle injury and Higbee left with a lung contusion that reportedly had him spitting up blood.

It appears that both luckily avoided serious injuries though as head coach Sean McVay reported that they are considered day-to-day, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Starting RG Austin Blythe (ankle) and TE Tyler Higbee (lung contusion) are both “day-to-day,” Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters Monday evening.

This is obviously great news for the Rams as they prepare for their Week 3 matchup against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday night.

When he first got injured, it looked as if Blythe may have suffered a significant ankle sprain, or maybe even a fracture. But Blythe is only dealing with a minor ankle sprain and may be ready to play by this weekend:

“I’ve been lucky enough to not really deal with too many injuries in my career, and this one is best-case scenario,” Blythe said. “Hopefully I’ll be back soon.”

Higbee took to Twitter to express a similar thought as he is not expecting to miss much time:

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and support! I feel great and ready to get back to work asap! We’re 2-0 tho!!! #MobSquad 🤘

Donald is also listed as day-to-day but considering he was able to finish out the game against the Saints, that is more precautionary as it is hard to see him missing the game against the Browns.

If Blythe and Higbee are unable to go, then Jamil Demby and Gerald Everett would take over for them as starters. Both of them played well after replacing the injured players against the Saints.
