Rams News: Sean McVay Doesn’t Think Robert Woods Needs To Practice To Play In Week 12 Against Ravens

The Los Angeles Rams went into Week 11 down a key member of their offense as wide receiver Robert Woods ended up being a late scratch in the win over the Chicago Bears while he tended to a personal matter.

Since then, Woods has remained away from the team while continuing to address his situation. Although there is no information on what Woods is dealing with, he will have a little extra time to recover as the Rams are not playing until Monday night in Week 12 when they welcome the Baltimore Ravens to town.

Despite Woods not yet returning to practice, Rams head coach Sean McVay still feels that he could suit up for Monday night’s game, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

McVay did say Woods is a player who has the ability to play in a game without multiple practices/on a short week.

Woods’ status still TBD for Monday night. https://t.co/XiuxggM7Rz

Woods has missed just a handful of games across his career. Being the professional that he is, it is no wonder that McVay feels comfortable letting him play without practice.

He is coming off a career season in 2018, but Woods has slowed down a big in 2019, which was expected due to the return of Cooper Kupp. So far, Woods has totaled 566 yards on 45 receptions through nine games but has yet to record a touchdown reception. He did run in a touchdown during the Rams’ Week 6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Regardless of who is able to suit up or not, the Rams will be in for a tough matchup against the Ravens, who have won their last six and only seem to be picking up speed. Unfortunately, the Rams have yet to find a rhythm in 2019, but playing in Los Angeles this Monday night, they should have some help from the home crowd to overcome the Ravens.

In addition to potentially getting Woods back, the Rams will also welcome the return of Brandin Cooks, who missed the last two games due to a concussion. When all three are healthy, Los Angeles has one of the best wide receiver trios in the league, and that could be back on display this week after a short hiatus.
